Professional Development For All
Every community across Appalachia is unique, but we all benefit from education and opportunity. At Upskill Appalachia, our aim is for every student to participate at no cost. Here are a few options we've organized to help make that possible. To inquire about an option not listed here, please get in touch:
Employer Reimbursement
Have an employer-sponsored professional development budget to use? Or already working and want to invest some of your income to support career growth?
If you're ready to pay in full, and submit reimbursement to employers, this might be a great option for you! You can make direct payments on the course detail page via Stripe. We accept credit cards, debit cards, bank ACH payments, electronic wires. We do not accept checks or cash for this option. If you use this option, be sure to keep the receipt we send you for tax season writeoffs for money spent towards professional development and training (consult a tax advisor).
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
Are you currently unemployed or underemployed (earning less than a living wage)? A full-time student? Or just need support making this career leap?
Thanks to our generous workforce partners and grants, we are able to coordinate WIOA scholarships to eligible students. Criteria for recipients will include the following: must be 18+ years old, must be a resident of the state offering the funding, must commit to meeting with your student support team monthly (i.e. workforce counselor, career advisor, instructor), and meet income requirements. Speak to a mentor about this option, or contact your local Workforce board.
Scholarships
Need support making this career leap? Scholarships may be available for eligible learners through Upskill Appalachia's workforce partners, colleges, universities, institutions, and grants.
For individual learners, we suggest reach out to your local resources to see if you're eligible for a scholarship, and follow their application process. Once you are awarded funds, we can work with you to apply it towards our professional development program. When you're ready, email us directly at goodnews@brandevangelist.io
Cancellation Policy
If you have to change your plans for any reason before you open your classes for students, we do have options. Our refund policy is straightforward — cancel up to 60 days before first day of classes, with no students registered, we will refund your payment 100%. Cancel 30 days before first day of classes, we will refund your payment minus an administration fee of 50%. Cancel 14 days (or less) prior to classes, and we cannot offer a refund.
